the solution
"Unite Against Banned Books" is an organization that brings awareness to the banned book pandemic happening today. Their goal is to allow parents to become more aware and encourage them to become an advocate against banned books. My designs are in "partnership" with this real world organization.
UNCOVER THE CENSORED
For the campaign, I designed two posters intended for display on streets or in libraries, highlighting the issue of banned books. The first poster features illustrated books without titles, all from the banned book list in the United States, while the second offers a direct representation by depicting a sparse bookshelf to visually convey the impact of banned books.
LITERARY ACTION
To deepen understanding of the issue of banned books, I chose to create a small zine booklet. This booklet contains information about banned books, including statistics from the 2022–23 academic year, and concludes with actionable steps individuals can take to address the issue.
DESIGN DETAILS
I selected this color palette to create a friendly and approachable vibe, with hues reminiscent of elementary education to align with the grade school academic year statistics. For the typeface, I aimed for a bold and eye-catching yet elegant design.
