history of calliope
Calliope is an annual art and literary publication at the University of the Pacific. Each year, a team of English majors and Graphic Design majors come together to produce that year's edition. The magazine features writing pieces and art from students across the campus, allowing them to showcase their work and become published.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
To advertise and let students know Calliope was accepting submissions again, a flyer and social media graphics were created. The advertisements had a brief history of Caliope and the types of pieces we were looking for.
COVER DESIGN
Originally designed for inside the magazine, an art student's crane illustration was chosen for the cover due to its symbolic alignment with our theme of resurgence. With the artist's permission, we used it as the cover and included it inside as well.
GRID SYSTEM
For this year's edition of Calliope, the design team and I decided on a two column grid since it split the page well. To give the text "air" we had decided on making the leading 14pt, making our baseline grid 14pt as well. To add more visual variety, some pieces are not strictly adhered to the grid.
